Hannah's class theme for the day was "Mexico"

As usual on her school days we sit down at dinner and ask her about her day.

Mommy and Daddy: "What did you learn about today at school?"

Hannah: "Look in my folder."

This is what we found

M&D: "So you learned about Mexico! What is one thing you learned about Mexico."
H: "They wear hats."
M&D: "Do they wear big hats or small hats?"
H: "BIG HATS!"
D: "It is called a sombrero."
H: "That's what my teacher says!"
M&D: "Did you eat anything special today?"
H: "A hot dog!"
M&D: ?? "was it a tortilla, with beans in it?"
H: "yeah"
M&D: "That is a burrito"
H: "Linkon really liked the beans."
M&D: "So is Mexico North or South of where we live?"
H: ???
M&D: "Is it above us or below us?"
H: "Below."
D: "So what are your feelings on NAFTA?"

Busiest year ever!

The first two weeks of 2012 have been crazy busy for us!

I had a bridal shower on the first, a party at my house on the third, Preston and I had a wedding in Lousiana on the 7th so we made a long weekend of it and drove out Friday and came back Sunday. No pictures of that trip :(. I spent to much time catching up on missed showers and getting pampered with room service.

On the 11th was our Church baby blessing. We dedicated Parker. Here are some cute picts of the family.

I love how in this one they both have open mouths.

We spent a little time relaxing, then..

Hannah was a flower girl for cousin Gordan and Ewelina's wedding.

Rehearsal was Thursday the 12th and the wedding was the 13th.

Hannah was precious and did a great job!

It was a loong start to a new year but on Saturday we still had time to get the swing down from the attic.

Now we have one super happy boy.

Hannah was letting me know how much she loves Parker and how much she loves me and her daddy and this is the result of our discussion.

It is nice that she figured all of this out and actually thought about it :) It is also funny with Hannah being a Daddy's girl and Parker a Mommy's boy she pretty much got it right.

Parker is 3 Months!

Parker turned three months old on Monday!

He is getting to be such a big boy and such an amazing JOY!

He is chatty all of the time cooing and razzing. He has the best smiles a giggles. He loves to play on his changing table with his mirror and this is acceptable because he does not roll over yet. Just side to front or side to back.

He found his toes last week and become ecstatic if we take off his socks or footie pajamas.

He can hold his head up 90 degrees, he loves tummy time a lot more than Hannah did but it is still not a favorite activity (is there a baby who likes it? I would like to meet them and witness that.)

He is now wearing about 1/2 3 month clothes 1/2 6 month clothes. I am pretty sure he started teething this month due to his sudden bouts of panic chewing and massive drooling.

His eyes are changing a little. They are still beautiful and clear but more of a grey like his daddy's than a blue. He still LOVES to jump and he got a jumperoo for Christmas but I think he might need a few more inches for his feet to touch. He started sitting in his Bumbo some this month but is very slouchy in it. And best of all this month he had his first Christmas! He didn't really know what was going on just that he was home a lot less than normal and he got a huge haul of toys that he will be able to play with soon enough.

Three Month Stats:

Weight: 14.5 lbs

no doctor this month so we will have to wait until next month for length.

The terror of Santa:

So here is my take on why kids are scared of Santa. He is a large man, a stranger with an obscene amount of facial hair. His suit is old and smelly and we hand our children over to him to sit on it. We tell our children that this man (he is a stranger remember this) watches you all the time to see if you are good. This is pretty creepy. Also this man who essentially stalks you sneaks into your house in the middle of the nights and eats your food.

All of that to say, Hannah has conquered her fear.

She told Santa that she wanted a "Bigger Dollhouse" this year and she was excited to do it! Thank goodness the need for new toys outweighs the fear of strange hairy men.

Parker didn't care either way, he is familiar with being passed off to any friendly face.

Gingerbread house

Hannah and I made our annual Gingerbread house today and I think it is the best ever!

This year she really wanted to make it look good, instead of just play with the candy.

I still can't get a good smile!

FYI it is the Target brand gingerbread house. By far the best one we have ever purchased. I usually have to make extra icing but not this year! It wasn't on one of those silly plastic trays, it was pre-attached to this cardboard.

Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving!

We had a great Pre-Thanksgiving at Granmommy's house then on Thanksgiving day we went to Aunt Donna's house.

It was Parker's first! He enjoyed eating his fist.

Parker - 2 Months

Parker is 2 months old!

The time is flying by! My baby is holding his head up, putting weight on his legs, jumping, cooing, laughing, smiling and having "conversations"

He has found his toys and loves them! His favorites are all mirror but especially the one on his changing table and the mirror elephant on his bounce seat. He loves the same 3 toys his sister absolutely loved, a stuffed cow with a mirror head, a worm that lights up and make silly noises and a "catterpod" a caterpillar music player.

He also is starting to like rattles and enjoys them a lot more than his sister.

Here are my sweet kids sharing the couch.

Parker LOVES his reflection. He can spend a pretty lengthy amount of time playing on the changing table with his mirror.

So I never posted pictures of Parker's nursery.

Here it is!

We decided to go with a nautical theme since I found PBkids bedding and a matching PBkids rug for super cheap.

I had grand plans of light blue and light green (we were not going to repaint the walls) beautiful toile bedding mixed with menswear prints, but that didn't happen. One it was going to cost more money, and two when was I going to make all of the bedding, curtains and accessories when I was busy embroidering for everyone else? :)

I am super impressed with myself on how much money I saved creating this nursery.

-Blue Dresser- pulled it out of the guest room

-white crib- craigslist, Preston and I distressed it ourselves

-red shelf- was white from JBF

-changing table- was the entryway table but replaced that with a nicer piece last year.

-ottoman- Target

-glider- Target

-curtains- leftover from Hannah's nursery

-wall murals- beautifully done by myself and my wonderful sister-in-law/Art teacher Carleen

-white shelves- free stolen from my office

One Month!

Parker was one month old yesterday!

The time is going by so fast!

Fun Facts:

He weighs 10.4 lbs

is going about 3-4 hours between feedings (his sister NEVER did that)

He is content and happy about 95% of the day

He loves to play in his crib and wiggle and he loves to JUMP!

We are all so in LOVE with the precious new joy!

..and he is still getting used to sister.. :)

Hannah and I decorated Halloween cookies Wednesday. She loves icing and decorating the cookies with candy.

Baby Parker is finally here!!!

After 296 days of pregnancy it took 3 different induction methods, 16 hours of labor and 1 epidural ;)

On October 2nd at 3:11am God gave us an 8lb 2oz 19 inch amazing beautiful baby boy!

We could not be more delighted!

So...I am getting a lot of people asking me if baby Parker is here yet. He is not.

Since we are doing this all natural I will not be getting induced, or get to have my water broken or any other "fun" things they do at the hospital so everyone will have to wait patiently with me.

Preston created a new site, http://isbabyparkerhere.info, so that you can stop asking me if he is here :) You can check it as much as you obsessively like but I am sure I will post to facebook and on this blog hours after he arrives.

40+weeks pregnant

Here are some fun pregnancy facts about me

Sleep: not a lot. I have insomnia until about 12-2am and I wake up every two hours to go to the restroom

Maternity Clothes: they are getting snug J

Movement: All of the time. A lot of stretching his shoulders and kneeing me in the side.
Cravings: I haven’t had a lot of cravings this time. Things with cinnamon, graham crackers.

Aversions: Salads, eggs, especially smelling eggs cooking.

Labor Signs: Irregular contractions for about two weeks or so. They are gradually getting stronger but not consistent.

What I Miss: Bending over. Having any significant amount of energy. Walking like a normal person. Wearing my wedding ring.

What I'm Looking Forward To: His arrival!

Weekly Wisdom: No matter how much I want this baby to come now, he will come when God wants him to.

Best Moment This Week: Wii step aerobics trying to get contractions to speed up. If someone had videoed it, it would have been hilarious!

Hannah chose a Pinkalicious Birthday Party this year. It is one of her favorite books about a girl who eats too many pink cupcakes and turns pink. She had a blast will all of the pink goodies and decorations.

It has been unreasonably warm here for December in Texas, so Hannah and I have been enjoying some outside time. Last week she decided she wanted to make some "Chocolate Pie."

I thought I would share her own personal recipe.

First, gather your favorite flowers, or those that have not died yet from the multiple freezes.

Try and avoid any Pansies or recently planted flowers.

Then place them in a half full watering can

Add some rocks, sticks and mulch as desired.

Stir until combined.

Then enjoy!!

That was one yummy Chocolate Pie I am never going to try!

Christmas Cookies

Hannah and I decided to make Christmas cut-out cookies today.

I am so loving that she is actually a good helper in the kitchen. We have been practicing weekly (at least) with making muffins from a box and she has memorized the recipe. Cookies from scratch was a lot more involved for her, but fun too!

She found this lovely Dora guitar in the car and assumed it was hers to have immediately. With her new "Big Girl" attitude I was too stressed/exhausted/defeated to say no.

She does love it though. Pappy added the blue strap so it is even more special to her now.

I have some pretty good video of her playing it too if I can remember how to make the video work with blogger. :)

Halloween?

So...I know that we are already in the "Christmas" Season, even though it is still November. But, I just realized that I have not posted about Halloween!

I had a minor finger injury a few days before Halloween and had to go into emergency surgery on October 27th, so with recovering and running a sewing/embroidery business it has been a busy month!

Kitchen Re-do

I know this blog is supposed to be about Hannah but I just don't have enough time to manage a separate blog about me. So I am going to start posting some of my favorite things!

My newest favorite is my "new" back splash.

I moved into my house a month before Hannah was born and I have loved it but thought it was a little "builder". I got to pick out all the finishes but those design centers are seriously lacking.
I have wanting a new back splash since we moved in but ripping out tile is not my favorite activity. Not to mention back-buttering, grouting and then cleaning all the excess grout.
I also didn't want to pay for the back splash of my dreams so I came up with this idea.

I put wall decals on my back splash tile!

It took me about 2 hours and $35.00 to decorate 50 tiles.
I think it is pretty amazing!

Lately it feels like I have been working a lot. I mean almost all the time. Every free naptime moment, when Preston gets home from work on the weekends you name it. My Little Pumpkin is thriving and it is wonderful, but sometimes it is hard to juggle working from home while watching a toddler.

Vacation Highlights

We went of a nine day vacation the last week in May,
Our destination was South Padre Island but we made a few stops along the way.
Here are some of the trip's highlights.

Day #2 we went to the Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi.
I would give it a B+ only because it had Dolphins, a lot of Sea Turtles and was but the water, otherwise Dallas was hands down better.

Hannah enjoyed looking at the fish though and it was a great stop for a road trip.

First Haircut

Hannah had her first haircut yesterday!
It was beginning to look a little mullet-ish so I decided to get it trimmed.
We went to Pigtails and Crewcuts and it was a really fun place for her. She got to play on the train table while we waited and then she got to sit in a taxi cab to get her hair cut.

She was really good the whole time but she was wondering, "who is this lady and why does she have scissors?"

Finished result!

I think I may invest in some hair cutting scissors with as little hair as Hannah has!

Today at the Beach!

We are on vacation this week at South Padre Island.
We went to the beach today and there was a lot more sea weed than any other day.

Hannah felt the need to clean it all up and picked up the "grass" as she called it for about 30 minutes.

It was a pretty big task.

On Hannah's actual birthday we went to the Dallas World Aquarium.

It was amazing! If you have not been you need to go. I honestly think I had more fun than Hannah, and she loved it!

New Look for the Blog

So I decided to change up the look of our blog since our header was from Valentine's day and the picture from Christmas.
I hope you enjoy the fresh new look!

I certainly do. When I started to look closer at it I realized that the background is a scanned image of my all time favorite quilt! It was a wedding present (from registry) from Pottery Barn.
They reintroduced it last summer and again this summer so who ever love it as much as I do can enjoy it with me!

So I was going to do this every week. I think it has been over a month, you can see how dedicated I am!

1. Abby Cadaby- Hannah loves Abby! She received a fairy outfit for her birthday and loves to wear the wings and pretend to be Abby.
2. Cosy Coupe - She wants to ride or just sit in her car and enjoy a good snack.
3. Her baby bath tub - She received a bath time baby for her birthday so we got her baby tub out to give her a bath. Now it is her favorite place to lounge and watch tv or read a good book

4. Markers - Why did we start this I don't know. I currently have marker all over my arm from her coloring. They are more fun than crayons I guess.
5. Outside! This girl could live outside! She loves being outside, riding in her car, petting the "bunnies" blowing bubbles, coloring with chalk and especially watering the plants! If only she could be trusted to get the water I would never have to water the plants ever again with her around.

Japanese Gardens

So I know you are probably expecting an Easter post but I am way behind on posting so instead of Easter we are doing Spring Break.
We went to the Japanese Gardens one day on Spring Break with My mom, Brother Eric and Sister-in-law Carleen and had a blast! We tried to go to the Zoo but evidently everyone in America thought that Thursday, March 18th was the only day the Zoo is open (it is open 365 days a year). So we ended up at the Botanical gardens which Hannah enjoyed just as much.

Big Girl Bed?

So I have Hannah's big girl room about 90% done. She has slept in there for 4 nights and is doing great! Well, about the same as she did in the crib anyway. Here is sneek preview of the wall color. It is a beautiful turquoise blue, similar to Tiffany's.

The main problem with her new room is that she can't get in to the bed by herself.
So this is what I found around naptime today.

Hannah and Ethan are BFFs. Ethan lives next door to us and we love to play with him. The other day he hopped on this scooter behind her and I had to take a picture!

Big Girl Room Phase 1

So we are starting on Hannah's "big girl" room. She is moving to the larger bedroom and my sewing room/office is moving into the nursery. Here are some before pictures minus the sewing desk. It has been temporarily relocated to the dining room.
Hopefully soon I can post some decorating progress!

Did I mention that this is on a as cheep as possible budget? I will let you know what great finds I get and the fun projects that are in store.

It's Friday!

1. "Please Daddy?" I taught this to Hannah this week to manipulate her daddy (something I am very good at). It is hilarious to watch her want some thing from him and sweetly say "Please Daddy?" and him cave.
2. Her Baby stroller. She has played with this off and on since we got it for her about 6 months ago but Wednesday she found it and had me get it out and played with it for hours. She took turns pushing Daytona, her dolly and the "mommy" from her doll house set. She told me, "I push the momma in the stroller."
3. Being a daddy's girl. She has always loved her daddy very much but earlier this week she would only want daddy. It lasted for several days. I was honestly feeling a little sad and neglected.
4. Trash. She loves to throw things away and is usually really good at telling what is trash and what is not. Tissues, wrappers, small bits of paper are trash. Toys, pens, ect. not trash. I saw her throw a tissue away and told her it was good. Then I saw her throw another away. Then I saw she was pulling new tissues from the box just to throw them away.
5. Pink Crocs. Someone gave us some hand-me-down shoes including a pair of pink crocks two sizes too big. Hannah insists on wearing them around the house whenever she remembers about them.

This post is a little belated. It snowed like crazy here on Thursday an we got to play in it a little when Hannah got home from school.

Even though the snow hung around for three + days Hannah decided that she had enough fun on day one and did not want to go outside again.

2. She made it to 10! Yeah! Hannah can now count all the way to 10 we couldn’t be more excited!

3. “I’m a Little Tea Pot” This is her favorite song this week. She has not figured out the spout. She has two handles but she does have a fun little tip and pour out.

4. “Thanks” I am in love with this polite princess! She has started saying “thanks” when ever she gets anything and I love it!

5. Grapes. This is her new favorite food she eats an entire pound in about two days. Is that too many? At least it is a healthy obsession.

1. Counting - "one, two, tree, four, ive, six, nine!" (we are closing in on ten)
2. "Moo!" and "Roar!" - Hannah knows a lot of animal sounds. I actually am very impressed with her knowledge. But every animal sometime or another either says "Moo" or "Roar"
3. Clean Daytona! - Praise God! (thanks Christa & Mrs. Keltner for the tip)
4. Books - This is not a new thing. While multiple kids were screaming their heads off in Sunday school this week Hannah was quietly in the book corner reading. Her current favorites are "Spot" books.
5. Colors - That girl loves art! but who is surprised? She has been coloring a good 30min every day! I love the "quiet" time!

Daytona 2

So many of you may remember our summer vacation to Daytona, FL in August.
Well we brought back a baby polar bear that we picked up at the Sea World gift shop inside the Orlando Airport.
Hannah fell in love with it and it quickly became her new best friend.

Well here it was four months later and it smelled like gym socks. Unfortunately it recommends not putting him in the washing machine. So to abbreviate a long story I got another one from a Sea World season pass holder who graciously mailed it to me. The difference was astonishing.

Though it looks like Hannah really loves this new version it is deceiving. She wants nothing to do with him and gets mad when she accidentally gets briefly confused. I guess it is going to be harder to put stuff past her.

By the ways does anyone have any cleaning tips that I can accomplish in the 3 hour windows that she does not need this bear?

Harmonica Music!

Pappy has been teaching Hannah how to be more musical.
I did not get that gift from God like the rest of my family as evidence of both my brothers CD's, concert tours and my dad's extensive instrument collection.

Hannah has really taken to the Harmonica, probably because it is just her size.

We found a toy harmonica in the target toy clearance section and she has absolutely loved it!
She has even figured out that breathing in and out make different noises!
Maybe she will get the gift!

First Days of School

Hannah started Pre-School this month and we could not be more excited! She is going two days a week from 9:00-2:00 and it is giving me a lot of free time away from the house!

We had two first days of school since the first was canceled due to icy roads which we were unaware of so we went to school anyway and took a picture!

This was the first try. I think Mommy overloaded the backpack!

"Clean It Up!"

So, one of my favorite songs since having a child is "Clean it up" by Laurie Berkner.
I constantly sing it whenever there is a mess that I or Hannah has made that needs to be cleaned up.
Well, I think Hannah finally caught on to the idea the other day when she saw some melted ice on the floor.
I am so proud!

Here are some of Hannah’s favorite things this week.

Daytona – her very gross polar bear friend who she is completely attached to.
saying “Thank You” with Sign language. She learned this from her Daddy and says it all of the time and I love it.
Beads – This is not surprise.
Pepperoni Muffins – No this is not a new recipe, she loves to put her play pepperonis in her muffin pans and “bake” them.
Finger painting – I have not witnessed this mainly because I am not brave enough but her teachers go on and on about how she loves it.
Red – almost every color is “red” to Hannah.
Her name - She learned to say “Hannah” this week and she loves to point and say “Mama, Daddy, Hannah.”

First Christmas

So I have been a horrible blogger this month for a good reason. My Little Pumpkin is having amazing success! Therefore every nap-time moment has been spent in front of a sewing machine and not blogging.

We have had a lot of fun this month that I would love to catch everyone up on.

First we went to the Gaylord!

We have had many moments sunggling daddy in this lovely cool weather.

We are having a tremendous amount of fun trimming the tree.
and re-trimming it and trimming it again.

And we have spent some quality time posing for mommy.

I hope your December has been as fun as ours has with more fun to be had!

I have never really like Halloween before. I don't really like to be scared. I don't like blood or anything gross. This year since it was Hannah's 18 month birthday on the 30th we decided to have a play date party! It was a lot of fun and I think Halloween has finaly won me over!

We decided to go with a witch costume this year! If only we liked to take pictures with out hat on! These were the best I could get!

I put Hannah's pumpkin costume on from Halloween last year and it fit perfectly. Yes, even though we are almost 18 months old we can still wear most 6-12 month items. I think she looks even cuter this year!

Here are some more playground shots. Have I mentioned that she LOVES the tube? (Notice the 4" too long leggings. I have a lot of hemming to do with my petite princess.)

17 Month Photo Session

In April I decided to take Hannah's photos in the bluebonnets myself. They turned out really well and I told the family that that was going to be her One year photos.
So I have been dabbling in photography.
I will be the first one to admit that I am not very good, but I think I am good enough to save the huge expense of professional photographers. It is worth a try any way right?

Spaghetti Time!

We gave Hannah spaghetti for the first time last week and it went pretty well! She really enjoyed the pasta and because of the minimal sauce she was allowed she didn't make a giant mess!
